Sydney Opera House presents LUMINOUS -
a festival of music, ideas, light and performance. Curated by Brian Eno, this inaugural year features a plethora of music acts, alongside public talks and spectacular light and art installations. Music highlights include Battles, Ladytron, Lee Scratch Perry, Jon Hassell, Reggie Watts and Karl Hyde. LUMINOUS is part of Vivid Sydney, a Sydney wide mid-year festival.

Almost everyone has encountered the work of Brian Eno: as inventor of 'ambient' music; as record producer for U2, Coldplay and Talking Heads;
as acclaimed visual artist. He is an innovator, an architect of new ideas, a father to new ways of thinking. He is a living legend. Watch the video
above to find out more about his vision for LUMINOUS.

TUESDAY 26 MAY
LUMINOUS OPENS TONIGHT!
LUMINOUS launches tonight with the lighting of the Sydney Opera House sails, followed by three weeks of music starting with Battles on Saturday 30 May.
There's British pop, math-rock, chilled-out beats, live dub and plenty more... Like Brian Eno says: you have to listen to these people.
And make sure you leave enough time before the concerts to take in Brian Eno's audio-visual masterpiece, 77 Million Paintings in The Studio.
Luminous is a festival infused with Brian Eno's personality, passion and personal involvement – ranging from light installations, and groundbreaking music to debates and workshops.
77 Million Paintings - 'Layers of gorgeous, intensely coloured abstract images appear morph and dissolve into one another, then fade away into something entirely new.'

I feel very honoured to have been invited to curate this festival. The brief I was given can loosely be read as 'you suggest it and we'll organise it' which is about as generous and trusting as one could ever dream.
